Perennial election mood and mode in India

Perennial election mood and mode in India

It is not good for India to have major elections every six months for this state or that state. All the focus and concentration of central government will be on elections and not on governance. It must be mandatory for conducting elections to parliament and state legislatures simultaneously as was happening till 1971. Indira Gandhi first meddled with this schedule and later unsteady state governments because of lack of absolute majority. Then started different states having different schedules as governments were falling in regular intervals causing irregular conduct of elections dissonantly.

If a government falls within 5 years, President's rule must be promulgated for rest of mandate years. All elections must be conducted simultaneously saving governments of unnecessary distraction from governing. Else all energy will be wasted for elections only and policy making and governance take back seat. Even central government must complete its mandate of 5 years by appointing interim prime minister and cabinet. The constitution must be amended to facilitate this. Else election fever grips citizens and government 24x7.

BJP must have and develop strong leaders at state level. As more and more states will be conducting elections from now on, this necessity will be much more strongly felt. In states like Andhrapradesh, Tamilnadu, Kerala, east and north east of India which are infested with regional parties and their governments,  this is very essential. Even in Maharashtra its regional ally is playing all kinds tantrums even being in governance at center, state and  local bodies. they will blackmail and reduce BJP to a party of dishonesty and corruption. Mere efficient economic and financial governance will not be sufficient.  A strong philosophical spiritual and  intelligent ideology with sincerity must be developed other than hanging on to failed foolish "Hindutva". Indians seem to want narrow-minded appeals for votes than promise and implementation of development.

BJP must have spiritual and cultural basis other than merely of RSS and its fringe groups.

Asking Modi to win every election for the party shows the bankruptcy of other leadership and ideology.

BJP can't afford to become another party to win elections on the charisma of just one individual. It is neither advised nor is workable.

Unless and until Indian democracy matures to have ideologies win rather than individuals win elections; castes, regions, religions and all such narrow-minded will decide India's future.
