Education and Skills' Development

Education and Skills' Development

Education and skills'-development are not one and the same. They are basically different. Education brightens mind and sharpens mental faculties to receive and give knowledge. Education leads to innovation in learning and leads to discoveries and inventions in all intellectual and aesthetic endeavors of human civilization and culture.

On the other hand learning skills provides livelihood. Skills' development is equally important and useful to humans living and comfort.

But skills are non-academic in the sense of formal school, college and university education. Skills can be taught and developed by individuals who are experts in skills' use, implementation and instruction. They need not have any academic instructions and go through formal school and higher education.
Many are confused between academics and skills' development. Academic instructions and training may not assure a livelihood. But it will provide intellectual and aesthetic pleasure which is unique to humans of all the flora and fauna.

Who are intent only on job and livelihood should think twice before proceeding with academics. Because after completion there is no guarantee of getting job. Individuals intent only on job and livelihood and not at all on intellectual and aesthetic pleasures,; must learn skills that guarantee livelihood. They must not continue in academics and then blame themselves, governments, education system for their unemployment and lack of livelihood.

It became a trend and fashion currently to compare Tendulkar, Bill Gates like economically and financially successful people to "denounce" the educational and academic acquisitions and adore and admire the entrepreneurial - abilities and -skills (cricket in the case of Tendulkar).

This admiration and adoration for financially successful individuals sans academic success also strengthen the "superiority" of skills-learning over livelihood non-providing academics.
Without education and academics neither TV nor computer might have been possible to be invented and enable Tendulkar and Gates to earn the millions or billions they have amassed. TV played a tremendous role in popularizing Mr. Tendulkar through live telecast of cricket matches and associated advertising.

Mr. Bill Gates might not have earned the billions but for the invention of computer, internet and technology. Many scientists and engineers and their academic achievements and technical minds are behind the success of modern technology which is the child of natural sciences.
Academicians never are interested in money and material comforts. They live and be blissful in their inventions and discoveries.

To look down academics in the light of material success of some skill-learners, is height of innocence and show of disrespect to knowledge, learning, academic brilliance; which never need shine as money makers and earners through skills; shine and get "worshiped".

All must know that there is vast difference between acquiring scholarship, becoming a scientist, technocrat who develop, innovate and shine as academicians and developers of knowledge and technology; and also give humans the aesthetic pleasure through their works in fine-arts and other arts.

It is childish to ignore the eminence of academic learning and not able to recognize and appreciate the merits of academicians and their discoveries, innovations and creations.

Business, which makes money on products from agriculture, industry, discoveries, innovations of intellectuals, scholars, technocrats, is never superior to basic learning and development of knowledge and learning just because it makes more money; and it must be noted again again that business makes money on the sweat of farmers, industrial labor, excellent academicians and technocrats.
Education is only for humans who can experience and appreciate intellectual and aesthetic pleasure while undergoing academic learning, which is unique to homo sapiens.

It is inappropriate wording to name ministry of education as ministry of human resources' development. Humans are intellectual and aesthetic living beings capable of creating wonders and not mere material resources as minerals, ores, metals and like natural or synthetic materials.

Humans are natural, lively and spiritual beings. Comparing them with materials is disservice to human dignity and capabilities and insult to Human uniqueness..
