Bans and amusing reactions
In Tamilnadu all political parties are demanding imposition of prohibition because consuming liquor is so spread, many school children are coming to schools drunk. Similarly when school going students and adults.who consume liquor are nusense to society and also are spoiling their health, prohibition is demanded.
In the same breath, when school going children and adults view porn content on the internet and become nusense and dangerous to society in addition to spoiling their psychological health and demeanor, why porn sites not be banned?
Why many celebrities and "intellectuals"are vehemently opposing ban on porn sites as infringing their privacy and are silent on imposing prohibition, and drinking is also a privacy issue and " private" affair?
Drinking, consuming liquor, drugs, opium and rave party stuffs equally spoil the physical and psychological health of individuals. Everyone knows this. Then why this foolishness in opposing certain bans and being silent on certain other bans?
This selective concern and opposition for some bans only, are subjective, political, and biased.
Elections and governance in India
In our country every six months or so an election is due and is being held in one state or other. Thus every political party and both central and respective state government are in election mode and mood through out the year. Until 1967 both parliament and state assembly elections were being held simultaneously.
That pattern and schedule were disturbed in 1971 and never reached normalcy. The zig zag pattern is continuing with disastrous consequences to the polity and nation. Governments can not administer focussing almost all their attention on elections.
Governments can neither take policy decisions nor implement already taken policy decisions as election code of conduct will be in force perpetually.
By taking some legislative measure the normalcy of simultaneous conduct of elections for parliament and all state assemblies should be restored; else lot of money, time, energy of governments, political parties, bureaucrats and citizens are wasted on conduct of elections with very little or no time for decision-making and implementation of development works and citizens to concentrate on their day to day lives.

In test cricket the efficiency of a batsman also equally depends on his art and technique of leaving balls; in ODIs the art of batsman is in striking the ball and scoring runs.
