Eradicating poverty - the deceptive and cheating slogan of politicians

I am hearing the promises and slogans of various political leaders and parties that they and their parties exist to eradicate poverty since I am in college. It has been 45 years, no leader or party could do anything to eradicate poverty. Still same lies are uttered as promises, election manifestos, slogans and are able to get elected and enjoy power and pelf and more "enterprising" leaders could eradicate their poverty and become billionaires employing all known and innovative corrupt practices. The corporate and bureaucracy have been helping the leaders to loot the nation and meanwhile they themselves making more billions.
I still do not understand why voters still believe the practitioners of corruption, lies, inefficiency, divisive forces, dynasty-obsessed party owners (leaders) and leave their fate to these practitioners of falsehood and deception and criminal activities.

May be still they are hopeful of these leaders will do something beneficial even though all these days the leaders concentrated only enriching themselves at the cost of national development, citizens' well-being, welfare and faith.

It all started in the seventies with the slogan Garibi Hatao, 20-points program and evolved into minority welfare, ramrajya, mandal and social justice slogans, distributing freebies to certain classes of voters, promises of transforming every town and city into another Singapore, making their regions "golden" and the like grander slogans have followed and we are here now with the promises of eradicating corruption and fighting black money stashed abroad.

I do not know how many more years will pass before poverty is "eradicated". Political leaders and politics thrive on the gullibility of voters and our politicians know the art of divisive politics and continue deceiving us promising moon to us and not even be able to deliver one billionth of their promises. Great way of cheating and practicing falsehood for personal gain and welfare of family, kith and kin.

Politics centering around eradication of poverty is a never-ending strategy that benefits the political leaders and parties. Even though it has been and is crystal clear that none of these promises will never be able to be kept and remain mere slogan uttered by selfish and inefficient third rate fellows is the tragedy of the nation.
Self-reliance and self help will be able to make people improve their lot and living standards and not by blindly believing these arrogant and "princely" leaders who have nexus among themselves whether they are ruling or in the opposition. Political class is one and the same whether of national parties, regional parties, minority-oriented, use social justice plank or eradicating poverty or corruption and black money. The leaders of all hues have their own compulsions to run the parties, sustain them and themselves.

Vigilance is the price of liberty. To this can be added the desire and practice and self-reliance and reduce the government to be facilitator of economic development of all citizens irrespective of their class, creed, caste, region, religion etc., divisions, law and order, defense, foreign affairs. Voters should not expect freebies from governments too. Else the slogan of eradicating poverty will be the staple diet of all hues and classes of politicians.
