Sri Ramana Maharishi Revisited:

Peace of mind dawns when quest halts. Quest and feelings are not our original or normal state of mind, is what Indian spirituality says. The Real I or Who is the Observer responsible for the origin of this I who or which gets frustrated, unhappy, happy or like that. Actually that Observer is not Who but Which. Ramana Maharishi says that Observer is the cine screen on which all frustrations, unhappiness, grief, happiness, pleasant feelings, pleasure, etc., appear and disappear just as various scenes appear and disappear on the cine screen. Throughout the running of the cinema screen is present but is not affected by what is going on in the scenes. The screen is present before, during and after the show. And screen is the same way unaffected before, during and after the show. The Observer is both material and instrumental cause for all creation, the individual, his mind, the appearance and disappearance of the phenomenal world on the mental screen. The energy coming out of the Observer is the source energy for all psychological functions and their cessation. That Observer is instrumental in the sense without that nothing is created and observed. If that screen is present, but projector is absent we can't see, hear, feel and observe anything. That state is the state of switching off of the cine projector. The cine projector is nothing but our mind. We function mentally in wakeful (Jagrat) and dream (Swapna) conscious states, all mental functions being observed by the Observer unaffected in any way by the goings on in the screen, our mental functions. Just as cine screen holds and allows things happen on it, the Observer observes all happenings unaffected. This is not mere spiritual expression, but the Truth. Observing unaffected by the mental happenings is the conscious state Wakeful Sleep (Jagrat sushupti). Sushupti is cessation of functioning of mind. This is the phase of experience of peace, silence and bliss.

Thus knowingly or unknowingly daily we go through these conscious states of mind, Jagrat, Swapna, Sushupti - deep sleep - observed by the Observer. This is the essence of Upanishadic insight and is the gist of Sri Ramana Maharishi's experience and expressions.

భగవంతునికి ప్రీతి పాత్రులు కారు

బాధ్యతలు లేని వారు బాధ్యతలు మోసేవారికి సలహాలు ఇస్తూ డబ్బులు సంపాదించుకుంటున్నారు. కుంటివాడు పరిగెత్తడం మీద, మూగవాడు ఉపన్యాసాలు ఇవ్వడం మీద, సోమరి పనులు బాగా చేయడం మీద సలహాలు ఇచ్చినట్లు.

సన్యాసులు, మత గురువులు, సినీ ఇతర రంగాల సెలిబ్రిటీలు సామాన్యులమైన మనకి ఉపదేశాలు, సలహాలు ఇస్తూ పబ్బం గడుపుకుంటున్నారు. గృహస్థు కాని వాడు గృహస్థుకి ఇచ్చే సలహాలు ఊహాజనితాలు. అనుభవం నుంచి వచ్చినవి కాదు.

గృహస్థులైన సామాన్యులమైన మన కష్టాలు, దుఃఖాలు, వేదనలు, వ్యథలు, వ్యాధులు వీరి ఉపదేశాలు, సలహాల వల్ల పోవు. కుటుంబంలో అందరం ఒకరికి ఒకరమై ఆప్యాయతలు, ఆత్మీయతలు, బాధలు, కష్టనష్టాలు, సుఖదుఃఖాలు పంచుకోకపోతే

మనని ఏ సాధు సన్యాసులు, మత గురువులు, సెలిబ్రిటీలు ఉద్ధరించలేరు.

కుటుంబాన్ని, కుటుంబ వ్యవస్థను నిలబెట్టడం లేదా నిర్లక్ష్యం చేయడం మన చేతుల్లోనే ఉంది.

ఆధ్యాత్మిక ఉపన్యాసాలు, ముముక్షుత్వం ఇంటి బాధ్యతలు వదిలేసిన వారికి ఉపయోగించవు. ఇంటి బాధ్యతలను జాగ్రత్తగా నిర్వర్తించడమూ ఆధ్యాత్మికతలో భాగమే. విధ్యుక్త ధర్మములు నిర్వర్తించక భగవంతుని పూజించినా, ప్రార్థించినా పెద్ద ఉపయోగం ఉండదు. మనం వదిలేసిన బాధ్యతలనన్నింటినీ భగవంతుడే నిర్వర్తించాలి కదా! ఆయనకి చిరాకు రాదా!?

మనం నిర్వర్తించుకుంటూ ఉంటే ఆయనో చేయి వేస్తాడు. అంతా ఆయనే చెయ్యాలంటే తప్పించుకుంటాడు. సోమరులు, బాధ్యతా రహితులు భగవంతునికి ప్రీతి పాత్రులు కారు.

ఎవరో వస్తారని, ఏదో చేస్తారని వోటర్ల దురాశ, వారికి ఆ ఆశ కల్పించే నాయకుల మోసపూరిత అబద్ధాలు; వెరసి మన ప్రజాస్వామ్యం.

దురదృష్టం

ఫేస్బుక్ మనకి ఇన్నాళ్లుగా లేనిది,   ఒక ఐడెంటిటీ ఇచ్చింది.

అందరమూ ఉడుత సాయంలా కొద్దో గొప్పో సాహితీ సేవ చేస్తున్నాము.

సాహితీ సేవ చేయడం బాధ్యతతో కూడిన పని. మనం అనుకున్నది చెప్పెయ్యడమే కాకుండా, భాషని బాగా నేర్చుకుని సాహితీ సృష్టి చేస్తే సరస్వతీదేవి ఎంతో సంతోషిస్తుంది.

ఆ రాసినది సారస్వతం అవుతుంది. రసజ్ఞులైన పాఠకులు సంతోషిస్తూ మన రచనని ఆస్వాదిస్తారు.

నాకు తోచినట్టు నాకు వచ్చిన, నచ్చిన భాషలో రాస్తాను. "తాంబూలాలు ఇచ్చేసాను, తన్నుకు చావండి" అనే రీతిలో రాస్తే అది పాఠకుల, విమర్శకుల దురదృష్టం.

జరిగిన సంఘటన ఒక్కరోజులో మర్చిపోవచ్చు.

కాని ఆ సంఘటన గురించి మీడియా, నెటిజన్ల "బాధ్యత" మనల్ని ఆ దుర్ఘటనని మర్చిపోకుండా చేస్తుంది.

పుండు రేగినట్టు రోజూ రేగి నెప్పి పెడుతుంది. ఆధునిక సంస్కృతిలో, నాగరికతలో ఇది తప్పని సరి తద్దినం. మనం చేయని నేరానికి మనకి పడే మానసిక శిక్ష.

ఓ దుర్ఘటన అయ్యాక ఇంకోటి; అంతర్జాలంలోకి రావాలంటే భయం, ఆందోళన.

ఏమిటో ఈ ఆధునిక జీవనశైలి!?

Most of modern human relationships are agonising, hurting and painful because they are not based on any norms. No commitment is expected or ensured. It is easy to live promiscuously. But it is not easy to withstand the psychological pressure generated by such wayward behaviour and fragile relationships. 

Human beings need committed and dedicated relationship with love and affection. If you value and respect an institution the relationship will be on solid foundation.

Living as human being is not that simple or easy.

Many Indians who are antagonistic to Prime Minister criticize him for the migrant laborers' problem. They point out lockdowns are hurriedly announced which caused tremendous trouble to the migrant laborers. Had lockdown not proclaimed and every set of migrant laborers carried the virus with them, then also government would have been found fault with.

Every nation had to hurry because of the speed and severity with which the virus has been spreading. It is easy to give swimming lessons by staying on the banks. It is easy even for a lame person to comment on runners and running styles.

Now today or tomorrow migrant laborers' problem may arise for American Indians and Indians abroad in some other countries.

All migrant laborers will migrate on their own. They don't take governments' permission to migrate. They do it because they find greener pastures in the to be migrated region. It is wholly and simply their voluntary decision and action.

In situations of emergency as present one created by Covid-19, it is natural to falter during this calamity for a size of India, both population and area wise. For example migrant laborers abroad also have to take their own measures. They can't blame governments for the decisions taken and actions implemented by foreign governments.

They should mend themselves. Migrating for livelihood is reflection of poor planning and administration of the state government. And the desire and ambition of individuals unconcerned of government. They behave as they want and for their individual benefit; never think of their country but want governments to help them.

Dependence on government for small or big problems is not democratic spirit. But our politicians pamper for vote bank politics caste-, community-, region-, religion-, ideology-, sub-nationality - wise. Lake citizens completely dependent on government machinery for even small needs. The corrupt adminstration takes its share by squeezing the citizens.

It is a good governance when government interferes less and allows citizens liberty to choose their paths and maximum provides infrastructure and services. Politicians promising they do everything for citizens is deception. It is conceit-filled disservice.

Pampering lakes citizens lazy, inefficient, demanding - and none caring for them. Self-reliance must be the mantra for the citizens of a democracy and is advanced and useful governance.
